Who pays for RandSwitch, and who can't
RandSwitch is free to use. This page says exactly how it's paid for, what we refuse, and what happens when we get something wrong.
How we make money
- Paid job posts on RandSwitch Jobs (R349 to R1 799). Featured posts are pinned and always labelled Sponsored.
- Newsletter sponsors in The Upgrade: one labelled slot per issue. See Sponsor us.
- Later, maybe: affiliate links (for example a money-transfer service or a solar installer). Each one will carry an Affiliate link label right next to it. None are live yet.
Full details and numbers: How we make money and our public stats.
Money we don't take
- No car dealers, dealer groups or dealer-software companies, as sponsors, advertisers or job posters.
- No car finance and no car insurance money, and no car brands as sponsors.
- No crypto or trading promotions.
- No lead selling. We never pass your details to anyone (see our privacy policy).
Nobody can pay for a ranking
Calculator results, matches and verdicts come only from the published method and data. Sponsors and affiliate partners can't change them, and affiliate links will never appear inside a result. If we ever earn from something we recommend, the label is right there.
How labels look
Sponsored means someone paid to be shown. Affiliate link means we may earn a fee if you sign up through that link, at no cost to you.
Corrections
Found a wrong price, spec, tax figure or job? Email hello@randswitch.com. We check every report, fix confirmed errors within 2 working days, and note material corrections on the page they affect with the date. If a mistake changed a calculator's verdict, we say so in the next issue of The Upgrade.
How our numbers are made
- Cars: how the switch tool estimates savings and official fuel prices.
- Jobs: eligibility labels and sources, and the take-home calculator's SARS tables.
- Home power: prices and sources, and the method at the bottom of the calculator.
